GvSIG OA Digital Edition out now PDF Print E-mail

gvSIG user interface

After several months of hard work and in-house testing, we are proud to release our customized version of the fine desktop GIS gvSIG to the general public. GvSIG has been in use at Oxford Archaeology for a while now and we feel comfortable recommending it to anyone looking for a free desktop GIS.

This version comes with a new, easier installer based on Bitrock Installbuilder (thanks to the folks at Bitrock for granting us an open source license!). It features enhanced performance, a number of integrated extensions, sample data and OA Digital documentation. The default settings for this edition will best suit those working in the UK, but can easily be adjusted via gvSIG's preferences menu.

Downloads for Linux and Windows are available right now (stay tuned for the Mac OS X version) from our Software section.
